Loučovice

Loučovice is a village with approximately 1900 inhabitants and is situated on the river Vltava about 3 km below Lipno Reservoir at an altitude of 690 m above the sea level, in the close proximity with the state border with Austria. The fi rst written mention about the village comes originates from 1361 describing Loučovice as a vassal village belonging to the Monastery of Vyšší Brod. In the surroundings of the village interesting locations for tourists can be found. Among the most interesting is surely Lipno – the dam reservoir, about 3 km far from Loučovice. Right within the territory we can fi nd protected areas such as the Natural park “Vyšebrodsko”, Natural monument “Medvědí hora”, a bog formation called “Kapličky”, Natural monument called “Uhlířský vrch” and the National natural reserve “Čertova stěna” and “Luč”.
